Our 5-step process for creating an SMM strategy for your business

The first step in any successful SMM strategy is to define your goals. What do you want to achieve? Do you want more traffic to your website? More followers on social media? More sales? Defining these goals will help you to figure out the most effective way to reach them.

Now that you know what kind of results you’re looking for, it’s time to think about who you want those results from. What kind of person are they? What do they like, dislike and need? This information can help inform how exactly you’re going to reach them. For example, if your target audience is college students then posting memes probably won’t be effective because they might not understand them (and if they do get them then they’re probably not going to be interested). Instead try posting memes that relate somehow back to the product or service being offered by posting something like “Hey! We have a new product just for YOU!” which will hopefully catch their attention enough for them to read further into the post where they’ll find more information about what it is exactly that we have for them.

Research on competitors

You also need to research on competitors before starting your SMM strategy. This way, you will know what others are doing right now in terms of SMM so that you won’t make any mistakes later on that could cost your business money or even ruin it completely! What type of content do they post? How often do they post it? How much engagement does it get? What kind of results do they see from their posts? You can use this information as inspiration for creating your own content strategy or as a benchmark against which to measure success.

Now that you know who your audience is, it’s time to think about how you’ll be reaching out to them on social media platforms. What kind of tone should you use? How often will you post? Do you need a dedicated team or can this be done by one person?

Execute with Key Metrics in Mind

Once you’ve created an SMM plan and started posting content, it’s important not just for success but also for measuring success that you have key metrics in mind at all times—things like engagement rate, click-through rate, and number of new followers gained over time. If these numbers aren’t on the rise then something isn’t working!

Analyze Data Regularly and Make Adjustments as Needed

One last thing: don’t let yourself get too comfortable with what’s already working well! It’s important not only to analyze data regularly (at least once per week) but also make adjustments.
